Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children Tuition Group

Our weekly tuition group for our foster carers has been in place for a few weeks now, and feedback so far has been very positive.

We would encourage any of our foster carers who are providing care for unaccompanied Asylum seeking children to contact our Education Service, as school-ready bags and home-language education leaflets are available.

Trauma-Informed Education Training

We held the first day of our trauma-informed education training on Friday 10th May.

Open to our foster carers and staff, the training focuses on the profound effect that past trauma can have on a young person’s educational achievements.

The training was well received by all and highlighted key points and strategies, including a number of therapeutic approaches.

We also look forward to our upcoming Education Health and Care Plan & Special Educational Needs training in June.

Carer Portal Updates

Our foster carer portal will soon be updated with a number of new resources, including topics such as school admissions, exclusions and Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND).

We would encourage our foster carers to contact us if there are any other topics they require information on.

Free Resources

All our young people are entitled to a free Times Table Rockstars and Numbots account, for fun online learning.

There is also free access to Phonics Play (for children learning to read, or practising for their Year 1 Phonics Test).

TACT foster carers can email our Education Service to obtain a free login.

Exam Season

Exam season is upon us, so we have some revision tips and resources available for our young people.

We understand it can be tricky when results are not what is expected, or plans need to be altered, so we have a dedicated Exam Results Phone Line to help support our young people.

The official results days are:

  • GCSE results day 2024, England and Wales: 22nd August
  • A level results day 2024, England and Wales: 15th August
  • SQA results day 2024, Scotland: 6th August
