Foster Carer Handbook

Congratulations! Now that you have been approved at panel you are about to embark on your journey as a TACT foster carer. You are probably feeling a mixture of emotions from excitement to anxiety and have lots of questions about what happens next.

If you haven’t already, you will shortly be be allocated a supervising social worker who will be with you throughout your journey as a TACT foster carer. Their role is to support you as a foster carer, ensuring that you have all the information and support that you need to offer the best possible placements to vulnerable children and young people.

Your supervising social worker will provide you with an induction pack outlining all you need to know about your role as a foster carer and TACT’s fostering service. You will now also be able to access our Foster Carer Portal, where you can access our Foster Carer Handbook which is designed to provide information about the day to day practicalities you may face as a new foster carer.

As well as the handbook, on the portal you will find details about local training & events, learning and development resources and a forum where you can communicate with TACT staff and other foster carers, plus much more.
